Need to update

Happy new year to all the few of you.

I don’t really procrastinate, I’m in fact really busy because of a design/sewing/styling project (i’m making costumes for a little movie). So, I’ve done a lot of things recently, i just can’t show you.

And for the vest project I’ve made a few months ago and that i did’nt show yet, it’s because of the pictures I’ve taken. Because there are pictures but I don’t want to publish them here. Thing is, I’ve make myself a swimming suit to train -because it seems that in november, it is impossible to buy a decent swimming suit- and well, the pictures contain both (the coat and the swimming suit). Since I am not an exhibitionnist, when i’ll have more time to myself, I’ll take more pictures of it.

By the way, I don’t make resolutions for new year.

Thakoon

C’est officiel.

Je dois définitivement ajouter du rouge à mon blanc-gris-noir traditionnel. Il se marie easily avec le reste et ajoute simplement une touche folk rehaussante qui contre la morosité du moche temps dehors.

Vendu.

Prefall 2011 faves

Mid-seasons (Resort and Prefall) are definitly my favourites ones.

The reason is pretty simple : there is less labels, so it is easier to review all the launches, plus the collections are more simple. So the clothes are everyday-wearables, which is practical when you hate looking overdressed.

So far, here are my faves :

This collection from DK is definitly making me want to review my entire wardrobe and clean all the black things to replace it with brown, kakhi and beige only tones. Since it means to send to garbage all my clothes, I think i’ll only fantasize about it.

If I stick to my black-grey-white obsession, both Herrera and Tahari convinced me to add some red and burgundy tones to my wardrobe, which is not a bad thing.

Latest Project

So, the latest sewing project i made was a fall coat.

I felt in love, long time ago, with 2 things :

McCall’s Pattern M5937

And this look of Behnaz Sarafpour’s Fall 2010 collection

I’ve made a mutant coat out of these two and it is absolutely gorgeous!

Of course, as usual, I’m late taking pictures but I promise that before the end of this week I’ll show you some!

MY Bible

For some, the ultimate Bible is Vogue. For others it is Harper’s Bazaar, W or L’Officiel.

For me, the perfect, ultimate magazine is… Burda Style.

I know, talking about the latest trends, months in advance is not their niche. But talking about actual trends you can sew yourself, with simple but effective editorials to support it? Yeah, you got me at 100% with that.

Of course, I also read Vogue and a lot of others (in fact I subscribed to 4 magazines and I buy periodically some others) and each day, I surf on the Internet, desperatly looking for a new fashion thing I haven’t seen yet.

But overall, the magazine I enjoy the most to read is my Burda one. The excitment of seeing beautiful new sewing patterns and thinking about what kind of fabric I would like to make it is a pure pleasure.

In the last one I purchased, there was a BIG surprise.

Karl Lagerfeld himself, provide the magazine, 2 of his own patterns’ creation.

Even if I like pretty much the jacket, the style is too difficult to wear, according to my style, in an everyday situation (considering I am a student).

On the other side, the skirt is very cute. Even if I don’t wear skirts very much when the weather gets cold, I think it would be perfect for the Holidays.

So, who said that you can’t find couture in Burda Style?

No news good news!

Hi everybody

I know it’s been a long time since i wrote here.

After my summer vacations, school started up again and i cas assure you that it’s actually the biggest and hardest session i had so far. I have a lot of work to do, what means i didn’t have the time to sew very much.

I made a few things during summer that i didn’t show you because i didn’t take proper pictures. Anyway, here they are and please excuse me for the poor quality of these images!

I made this one with an old big pair of jeans I bought at my church’s basement sale for St-Vincent de Paul, for 2 bucks and i made the pockets’ lining with a very cute fabric i bought like 5 years ago; its a pale yellow with embrodery flowers on it.
